$1.5 Million CAD Up to Applications accepted as funding is available
Who can apply Funding is available to seven (7) types/categories of private, not-for-profit organizations, as defined below, who are at risk of being victimized by hate- motivated incidents/crimes. Organizations must demonstrate they are at risk of hate-motivated incidents and/or crimes. A project may be proposed as a preventative measure, as long as the risk of a potential hate incident occurring at the project site is explained in the application. An organization may qualify for funding even if it has never experienced a hate-motivated incident/crime against its project site, as long as it meets the minimum eligibility requirements. Crown corporations, government bodies, publicly funded institutions, for-profit organizations, and individuals are not eligible for funding. Residential dwellings are not eligible, with the exception of those that may fall under shelters serving victims of gender-based violence. Grant highlights The Government of Canada through Public
Safety Canada (PS) has released a new funding opportunity to maintain and help ensure the safety and security of select not for nonprofit organizations at risk of hate-motivated incidents and hate- motivated crimes at their gathering spaces. The Canada Community Security Program (CCSP) will provide limited-time funding to help support those who may be at risk in their community. Approved project proposals are eligible for funding up to a maximum of 70% of total eligible project costs, with a maximum Public Safety Canada contribution of $1.5 million per project. Any work or purchases conducted prior to the signature of a funding agreement with Public Safety Canada are not reimbursable or eligible under the program unless the recipient receives written authorization from Public Safety Canada.

• Places of Worship: Including Temples, Mosques, Synagogues, Gurdwara, Church • Community Centres: Community drop-in centre, Cultural centre, Aboriginal Friendship Centre • Provincially/Territorially Recognized Educational Institution: Including Kindergarten, Junior Kindergarten, Primary School, Secondary School, Seminaries, Heritage language schools • Shelter serving victims of gender- based violence: Including 2SLGBTQI+ Shelters, Women’s Shelters, Transitional Housing

Minor renovations to enhance security • Notification and warning systems (e.g., public address systems, intercoms and panic buttons) Training • Training on how to use newly installed equipment
Security equipment and hardware • Intrusion detection systems (e.g., alarm systems, glass break sensors, motion sensors) • Physical access control (e.g., locking devices, key card systems) • Video surveillance (e.g., cameras, NVRs, monitors)
